USED TO

برای بیان عاداتی که در گذشته انجام میشده ولی اکنون انجام نمی شود.
از used to(عادت داشتن) با تلفظ s با صدای "س" استفاده می کنیم.
فعل پس از used to به صورت ساده (infinitive) نوشته می شود.

I used to smoke, but I don't smoke anymore.
(قبلاً) عادت داشتم سیگار می کشیدم ولی الان دیگه نمی کشم.

I used to play tennis but these days I don't have enough time.
عادت داشتم تنیس بازی کنم اما این روزا وقت کافی ندارم.(بازی نمی کنم)

I was used to them.
بهشون عادت کرده بودم.

She used to do her homework at school when she was younger.

Negative = didn't use to
برای منفی کردن used to از didn't و شکل ساده use استفاده می کنیم. در این حالت نیز تلفظ "س" می باشد.

I didn't use to take vitamins in the past but now I do.
ویتامین مصرف نمی کردم اما الان مصرف می کنم.

I didn't use to listen to opera but now I just love it.
They didn't use to eat meat when they were vegetarians.
